International Alternative Networks

The global network of alternative communication is growing and gaining momentum. Its strength comes from the co-operation of social movement organizing campaigns and media reform campaigns which adjust information and communication to the benefit of everyone. The networks are diverse in terms of location, type and focus but they are unison by their non-commercial nature and resistance to imperialist power-machines. International alternative networks include non-profit and private organizations, as well local websites that advocate for democratic information reforms and promote the reform of communication. They also create new communication infrastructures to help local connections regional and global developments in relation to social movement movements. They also create a lattice system of transnational, local-local (especially south-south) and global links that bypass imperial dynamics north-south.

Around the world Alternative media projects began to appear in the early 1990s. They seized the newly available alternatives to corporate production media channels to promote their message of development for consumers and community empowerment. At first, they were local media but they later merged and connected to regional, national and international boundaries to create a bigger media option for everyone.

In contrast to the traditional infrastructure for communications that relies on massive capital investments, these alternatives use volunteers to help support their efforts. They can offer lower prices and more flexible services for customers. They can also build infrastructure that is more agile that allows them to deploy 5G technology more quickly and expand coverage areas more effectively. This will help businesses better compete in the market, ensuring that their customers can access modern services without any delay.
